            The Board of County Commissioners of Madison County, Florida announces that the Board will hold its regular public meetings during 2018, to which all persons are invited to attend, as follows:

Purpose:          To consider and act upon the business of the Board.


            A copy of each agenda may be obtained no earlier than the Friday immediately preceding the meeting from the Administrative Office of the Board, Post Office Box 539, Madison, Florida 32341, telephone: (850) 973-3179.


            Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in any of the above meetings is asked to advise the Board at least 48 hours before the meeting by contacting William Washington, Clerk, at Post Office Box 237, Madison, Florida 32341, telephone:(850) 973-1500.  If you are hearing or speech impaired, please contact the Clerk by calling 711.


            If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

County Commission Information and Meeting Times


The Board of County Commissioners consists of five elected officials, each representing a geographic district, all of whom are elected by their districts.  As the governing body of the county, the Board of County Commissioners performs the legislative, budgetary and policy-making functions, and advocates for citizens at all levels of government.

The Board establishes the vision and sets the direction for county government to plan for the future challenges that will face our community.  Exercising their legislative powers, the Commission adopts ordinances (local laws) and resolutions to establish policies and programs, and to provide public services and facilities primarily for the unincorporated areas of Madison County.

Acting under the authority of Florida Statutes Chapter 125.01, The Madison Board of County Commissioners considers major problems facing county government and guides the growth and development of the county in a manner that is consistent with the public interest.

The Commission meets at the Courthouse Annex, 229 SW Pinckney St., Suite 107, on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.  The first meeting of the month is held at 9:00 a.m., while the second meeting of the month is held at 6:00 p.m.  The Chairman of the Board is selected on a 12 month rotation basis to match the fiscal year (October 1 - September 30).

Departments and services provided under the Board's administration include Building, Code Enforcement, Planning and Zoning, Emergency Management, Veterans Services, EMS, Road and Bridge, Solid Waste/Recycling, Parks and Recreation, Mosquito/Animal Control, Facilities Maintenance, Veterans Services and Cooperative Extension.  For more information on any of these areas, please click on the Departments menu at the left of this page and select the desired Department.

Minutes of meetings posted are subject to final approval by the Board and may change from what is presented here.  Agendas are posted the Friday prior to the meeting by 4:00 p.m.
