Emergency Management Updates

**Be advised the storm has been upgraded to a Category 1 Hurricane.  Please make any final preparations now!  If at all possible please stay home during the storm and do not plan to be on the road.  Remember to patient with emergency responders and power companies during this time!

**Beginning at 12:00 p.m. today (Thursday), sandbags will be available to the public.  Sandbags must be picked up from the Emergency Operations Center located on Harvey Green Drive.

**Madison County Emergency Management will be opening a General Population and Special Needs shelter at Madison County Central School Thursday September 1, 2016 at 4:00 PM for those vulnerable populations who may live in mobile homes or unsafe structures. Madison County Central School is the only approved risk shelter within the county.

Please keep in mind that shelters are not places of comfort and should only be considered as last resort. We urge you to seek shelter with family or friends when at all possible. The general population shelter is in the Madison County Central School gymnasium. There is no backup power in this building. You will need to bring comfort items, ie pillows, blankets, medications and hygiene items with you for the duration of the storm.
